Centering Deaf Professionals in Healthcare Settings
This course opens for enrollment on July 1, 2025 and closes on July 31, 2025.
Description: This webshop explores the complicated and nuanced work of working as a designated/preferred interpreter for Deaf Professionals within healthcare settings. This work will be examined through two frameworks: bioethics and empowerment of practice professionals. This webshop is recommended for interpreters who are considering starting working in healthcare settings with Deaf Professionals.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize multiple approaches to matching Deaf healthcare professionals’ interpreting needs
- Apply bioethics framework to decision making process
- Understand the parameters of role-space
Time commitment
This webshop will require about 90 minutes of work. You must invest at least 75 minutes or more. There are no set meeting times. All work must be completed by 11:59pm on July 31. You can take this course at anytime during the month of July as long as you complete the work by July 31 to get a certificate and/or CEUs.

To be eligible for CEUs you must complete the pre-assessment, watch all the videos, complete self-reflection activities and quizzes, and complete the post-assessment by 11:59pm on July 31.
